Campinas, SP, 28 – A Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior (Copa SP) ficou famosa por revelar grandes jogadores, mas também por contar com atletas de nomes excêntricos. Em 2023, não será diferente. A Copinha do ano que vem terá nomes como Pendências (Ponte Preta), Tagarela (Náutico), Cocote (Santana-AP), Tiringa (América-RN), Tchucão (Capital FC-TO), Piriquito (Fast Clube-AM), Joaninha (União ABC-MS), Macaxeira (São Raimundo-RR), Peteca e Bebezão (Galvez-AC).
A edição de 2022 também foi palco de nomes diferentes. O União Mogi teve Barba, Jacaré, Torresmo, Chulapa e Cremosinho. O Mauá FC-SP contou com Beijinho enquanto o Assú-RN apostou em Ureia e o Andirá–ES registrou Moeda na competição.
Também teve homenagens a grandes jogadores, como Rooney (Aparecidense-GO)e Klisman (Fast-AM) — referências ao inglês Wayne Rooney e ao alemão Jurgën Klinsmann, respectivamente.
A Copinha começa dia 2 de janeiro. Ao todo, os 128 clubes – que representam os 27 estados – foram divididos em 32 grupos, nos quais os dois primeiros colocados de cada se classificam à fase seguinte, em um total de 64 clubes. A partir daí, a competição será disputada em jogo único, no sistema mata-mata até se conhecer o campeão.
Atual campeão, o Palmeiras estreia no dia 3, em São José do Rio Preto, contra a Juazeirense. O Corinthians, maior campeão, joga no mesmo dia, contra o Zumbi, de Alagoas, em Araraquara.
Santos e São Paulo estreiam no dia seguinte. O tricolor paulista joga em Marília, contra o Porto Velho, de Rondônia, enquanto o alvinegro enfrenta o São Raimundo, de Roraima, em Santo André. A final acontece no dia 25 de janeiro, aniversário da capital paulista.
Com o Estádio do Pacaembu em reforma, o local ainda não foi definido – em 2022, o Allianz Parque recebeu a decisão entre Palmeiras e Santos.
